MVFC Officers & Members Mourns The Death Of Ernest Glenn Adams

Ernest Glenn Adams, 56, of Delmar, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at his home in Delmar, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 9, 1958 in Easton, a son of the late Marion and Elizabeth (Lockwood) Adams. Glenn, as he was known by all, grew up learning the value of hard work by working on the farm with his grandfather. After graduating from high school he proudly served his country in the US Army. He enjoyed his work which included serving Anderson County, SC as deputy sheriff, working as a truck driver and his greatest passion, working as a Sussex County paramedic for 21 years. He also enjoyed helping in fire service and was a past member of Marydel, Seaford, Laurel and Delmar volunteer fire departments. He was a long time, avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his friends and his son and riding his Harley Davidson. He is survived by his wife, Lisa K. Adams; five children, Adam "J.R." Coleman, and wife, Lindsay, Marie Adams, Beth Humes and husband, Ben, Megan Callaway and husband, Amos and Lauren Fleetwood; nine grandchildren, Hannah Coleman, Shane Adams and Zoe Adams, Madison Callaway, Taylor, Talon, Bristol, Shiloh and Lorelai Humes; a sister, Darlene Adams States; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and co-worker, Jim Gijanto. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca J. Adams. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, and also on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Delmar Fire Department. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Delmar Fire Department. Pastor Larry Whaley will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow the services at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Marydel Volunteer Fire Department, 110 Fire House Lane, Marydel, DE 19964. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar.
