Gas leak, outside a structure - 110 Firehouse Lane, Marydel

On Saturday August 06, 2011 at 1602 hours Kent center dispatched the Marydel Fire Co., Kent co. sta 51 (Hartly) and Caroline Co. sta 700 (Goldsboro) for a reported gas leak outside a structure, 110 Firehouse Lane (Station 56). Officer 56-15 (Madden) went on location, established firehouse Lane command, advising a pick up truck had severed a valve on a 800 gallon underground propane tank with a active leak. Engine 56-1 arrived crews pulled two 1-3/4 handlines, placing lines into service to disipate the vapors. Engine 51-3 arrived and crews assisted with handline operations. Command had engine 51-3 lay a supply line off east st. to supply operations. Command assigned officer 51-16 (Balleck) as water supply officer. Once water supply was established, engines started shuttle operations from station 51. Command contacted Kent Center to request Suburan Propane to the scene, priority 1. Command placed situation under control with units working on an active leak. Command transferred command to officer 56-24 (Madden). Suburban Propane arrived on scene, replaced the valve and stopped the leak. Crew's from station 56 and 51 broke down the water supply line and hand lines. Command terminated command returning all units in quarters. Station 51 and 7000 units went out of service at station 56 for refreshments. In the middle of this alarm station 56 was alerted for a medical assist, with rescue / engine 56-3 responding with officer 56-21 (Bolden). Offier 56-15 (Madden) had command. Units on scene included; engine 56-1, 56-3, Tanker 56, engine 51-3, 51-5, tanker 51, rescue 51, engine 703, tanker 706, brush 700. Station 45 transferred one engine to station 51, Caroline Co. station 600 transferred one engine to station 700. Units on scene covered station 56.
