On January 01, 2010 at 15:17 hours Kent Center alerted the Marydel Fire Company for a reported MVC on Mahans Corner Road and Parkers Chapel Road. Engine 56-1 went responding with a crew of 7, with officer 56-16 (Simonsen), Rescue 56 went responding with a crew of 5, with officer 56-18 (Olechny). Kent center advised it was reported as a pickup truck versus a pole. Moments later Kent center than advised recieving reports of possible entrapment, and mvc was possibly on Parkers Chapel Road, not Mahans Corner Road. Kent Center than advised they were recieving reports that subjects were trying to flee. Engine 56-1 went on location to a single vehicle off the roadway into a telephone pole. Engine 1 also advised it was on Mahans corner Road and 56-16 established Mahans Corner Road Command. As crews checked on subject who was not injured, command cancelled aviation and ALS, then requested Delaware Electric co-op to respond due to damaged pole. Subject was taken into custody by DSP, Command placed situation under controlled and released all units.
